For the Art and Music Lover :: The Music Hall is a community-supported non-profit performing arts center featuring entertainment from around the corner to around the world. It was recently named Editors’ Choice “Best All-Around Entertainment” by Yankee Magazine. With two theaters in downtown Portsmouth, NH – one, the 1878 Victorian-era Historic Theater, the other the modern and intimate Music Hall Loft – it is an active and vital arts center, dedicated to the cultural life of the Seacoast community. There’s great lineup of shows coming this winter. For the Foodie #2 :: Vernon Family Farm is located on 33 conserved acres in Newfields, NH along the Piscassic River and Rte. 87. This family-owned and run farm works hard to provide local communities with healthy, nutrient dense food. Known for their humanely raised, non GMO fed chicken, this farm has everything a family needs to feel connected to their food. Their farm store is filled to the brim with local goodies: from mustards to eggs to veggies and syrup, they seriously have it all. Owned by Jeremiah and Nicole Vernon, you can expect to see their family of three girls (and their awesome staff) playing around the farm. It’s a special place often hosting events in fairer weather and always at the local markets. 

The farm store is open daily in all seasons, 9am-6pm and Fridays from 4-7pm, you can pick up rotisserie chicken!

For the Crafty :: Board & Brush is one of our absolute favorites! Our entire writing team got together to make signs and we had the BEST time! Give the gift of a workshop to someone you love and they’ll be forever grateful. Better yet — go with them! Bring some wine, some more friends, and get making the most beautiful signs. For the Crafty #2 :: Port City Makerspace is the ultimate playground for those who tinker, design, build, fabricate, prototype, make and machine. The Makerspace is a community based shop that provides tools and workspace to members for a low monthly fee, and are organized and operated as a New Hampshire 501(C)(3) Non-profit Organization. They offer education aimed at safely utilizing the tools and workspace, and also promote the exchange of ideas within the community. In this environment members work both independently and collaboratively to research ideas, develop projects and put their heads and hands to good use.

For the Toy Lover :: As we look to celebrate our 40th anniversary in downtown Portsmouth, we’re introducing a new logo and a renewed commitment to showcasing the best in children’s literature, toys and other playthings! Our roots in the community are deep, having served more than 1 million customers in the last 39 years, as well as serving on local boards and donating countless dollars, toys, books and time to Seacoast non-profits. We still feel privileged to be here at 13 Market Street and to be able to keep our store and our hearts open 7 days a week. As we like to say, we’re “Family Run, Family Fun since 1978”!
