Aly Shields

Hi, Hola, Bonjour, Aly here! I’m originally from NH, and 4 years ago a new job led me back to lovely Portsmouth, NH, where I now live with my two daughters (ages 3 and 4) boyfriend and puppy. I enjoy living here because my favorite place is to be near the ocean but I also enjoy skiing and hiking. I love running, practicing yoga, hiking, being creative but most of all - spending time with my family. I work as a UX Designer and have a background in Web Development. I am passionate about getting girls involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) from a young age and working towards making sure all of our children but especially our daughters have opportunities in these areas. There are large gender disparities in these fields and selfishly I want to work with more women, because we rock. My life has changed dramatically in the past 4 years. I had two babies within 16 months, I went through a separation and a divorce, I’ve dated, moved, switched jobs, pursued a master’s degree, worked full-time, bought my home and the list goes on. I have relied on blogs and websites like Seacoast Moms for support, advice, encouragement and sometimes a laugh. I hope I’ve absorbed some of the wisdom, I certainly can’t say I’m an expert – but I’m a “girls’ girl” at heart so I’m happy to share my journey and hopefully make some friends along the way.
