Seacoast Mobile Physical Therapy and The Sonatina Center are so excited to announce our upcoming collaboration! Wiggle Worms, a virtual interactive exercise class designed to help parents and caregivers strengthen their core while interacting with their kids, enjoying moving their bodies together, moving to music, and enriching their mind-body connection.
Dr. Dara Storch PT, DPT and Cacia King Herlihy, MM, MT-BC have been working hard to design an exercise class with parents and caregivers at the center. Not only does this class address common parent/caregiver body weaknesses, but it’s totally designed to do while your kid relaxes to the music, dances their little bum off, or crawls all over you! In fact, we hope they do because that’s why you need to be strong, for them!
This class is designed with bodyweight exercises and functional strength training as the primary exercises along with stretching and postural strengthening exercises. Functional Strength Training is the practice of motion against resistance, in this case body weight resistance and the resistance of your child’s body weight, in real world motions/positions that you do regularly. As a parent or caregiver you HAVE TO lift a child, so why not strengthen your body that way???
